Step-by-Step Instructions:

Create the volcano structure by molding cardboard into a volcano shape and attaching it to the top of the plastic bottle.

Fill the plastic bottle about halfway with water and add a few drops of dish soap and red food coloring to create a realistic lava effect.

Add a couple of tablespoons of baking soda to the bottle.

When you're ready for the eruption, pour vinegar into the bottle, and watch as the volcano erupts with a bubbly, colorful explosion.

Cover the inside of the flap with aluminum foil, shiny side up. This will reflect the sunlight into the oven.

On the bottom of the box, place a piece of black construction paper. Black absorbs heat, so this will help cook the food.

Attach a stick or ruler to the back of the pizza box to prop it open at different angles.

Line the inside of the box with plastic wrap to create a greenhouse effect.

Learning about Solar Energy:

This solar oven project demonstrates the principles of solar energy and how it can be harnessed to cook food. When the sun's rays hit the foil-covered flap, they are reflected onto the black construction paper, heating up the inside of the box.
